Kakathiya Period

dartdisah's picture

The Kakatiya's were the first Telugu speaking rulers of what is now the Deccan Plateau, extending to the coastal Andhra Pradesh as far as Nellore. The approximate timeline of Kakatiyas stretch from early 11th Century to 13th Century AD. Noted among the Kakatiyas are Ganapathi Deva, Rudra Deva (Rani Rudrama Devi), and Prathapa Rudra. The Kakathiyas rule initially started with the present day Hanumakonda as the capital, later moving it to the present day Warangal. The name of Hanamkonda itself has an interesting story, dating back to the times of Ramayana, when Lord Rama  started searching for Sita, who was kidnapped from the Parnashala (now near Bhadrachalam), towards Kishkinda, He met Hanuman in a forest. The place they met is claimed to be the present day Hanumakonda. <<Lot of Content to be added..soon, very soon>>
