Competetiveness of Telanganites

Purushotham's picture

One of the main reasons Andhras got foot hold in Telangana was their superior English language skills due to education in Madrs state. Govt of India wanted to establish Indian Govt stronghold and drive out Nizam influence. Best way to dis-empower some one powerful is to take him out of his power spot and put him/her in unfamiliar surroundings. That is what Indian Govt did by sidelining Urdu and promulagting English. (In my own managerial life I used this idea. I was faced with an unmanageable department manager when I was the Plant manager. He was in the department for 30 years and knew all about it and people were subservient to him. Once he challenged my dierection. I transferred him to his Customer department which he knew nothing about, and immediately the tiger became a CAT.)

Now the situation has changed. Telangana young people are educated. Their skills aren't second to anyone. (See recent EDCET? exams where number of ranks came from Nizamabad). However, there are fewer opportunities for Telangana youth to get aggressive training (The likes of Narayana and Chaithanya) for Group 1 and Group 2 type of competetive exams to get Govt executive jobs. Similarly, there isn't any formal training for people with Leadership aptitude to get into local leadership positions. Consequently family heirarchy and 'Gulamgiri' to a local politician have become necessary for one to rise to the top. But if each district has Coaching and intensive preparatory centers for this type of preparation, competetiveness of Telangana youth can be improved. Such coaching centers don't even have to be not-for -profit. They can be for profit. Good businesses are businesses that help people!

So, my appeal to Telanganites with resources, to establish Residential intensive coaching centers in districts, and recruit and train Telangana youth and prepare them for leadership roles.

There are educational societies that own Engineering and Medical colleges. Eleti Maheshwar Reddy of Nirmal, Ms. Amrutha Latha of Armoor, Sharath Vemula of TDF are some such pioneers that I know of in Telangana private educational societies. Such leaders of Telangana should take the lead and establish pilot institutes and grow them based on results.

Competetive population can prosper better than non-competetive in this world of Global competetion.
